The College of Arts and Letters at the University of Notre Dame is seeking applications for the Director of its Center for the Study of Languages and Cultures. As leader of the CSLC, the Director plays a central role in facilitating the discussion of issues vital to all language sections in the College and in enhancing the study of language and culture across the University. Among other responsibilities, the Director supervises the staff and various activities of the Center (e.g., peer tutoring, Language Across the Curriculum, and Summer Language Abroad Grants); supports language departments in such areas as hybrid courses, assessment, and less-commonly taught languages; and promotes the professional development of faculty and graduate students. Teaching load: one-two courses per year.
 
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in a foreign language, second language acquisition, or related field. Native or near-native fluency in a language other than English; experience in SLA, pedagogy, instructional technology and administration required. Twelve-month faculty appointment, 3-5 year term, indefinitely renewable pending favorable reviews. Salary highly competitive. Position begins July 1, 2014.
