2013-2014 FLTA Fernanda dos Santos was recently Interviewed at the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs' Fulbright Midyear Conference
A native of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, Fernanda Oliveira Lages dos Santos is the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) of Portuguese for the school year of 2013-2014. She did her B.A in the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), where she focused in Teaching English as a Second Language and also researched both Brazilian and Canadian Literature, having been involved in a project to publish the letters written between poetry writer Henriqueta Lisboa and the modernist writer Mário de Andrade. She also received a grant from CNPq (Brazilian National Counsel of Thechnological and Scientific Development) to study Language, Gender and Identity in Margaret Atwood's Power Politics.

Fernanda currently teaches "Portuguese for Spanish Speakers" and co-teaches "Intensive Portuguese" with Professor Sandra Teixeira.
