Let's Talk: Photos

This past Tuesday (4/1) and Wednesday (4/2), the CSLC hosted the first “Let’s Talk” symposium. “Let’s Talk” is an annual symposium on foreign language research and education organized by the Center for the Study of Languages and Cultures. Sponsored by the CSLC and the Institute for Scholarship in Liberal Arts, this year’s symposium was sub-titled “Low-Enrollment, High Prestige Languages” and brought to the Notre Dame campus distinguished speakers from Yale, Columbia, and Kennesaw State. The symposium sought to address the discrepancy between certain languages’ enrollment numbers and global significance. In addition to keynote speakers Nelleke Van Deusen-Scholl, Stéphane Charitos, and Lance Askildson (former director of the CSLC), the symposium featured talks by Yongping Zhu (Notre Dame), Lori Crawford-Dixon (Holy Cross), and Virginie Askildson (Kennesaw State).…
