In honor of National Poetry Month, the EAP Program invites the international community and language learners at Notre Dame to attend this initial workshop on translation poetry. Guest presenter Misael Osorio-Conde (Notre Dame MFA '21) will introduce attendees to the process of writing a bilingual pastoral poem, and anyone who is learning or has learned a new language is welcome. In this interactive workshop, participants will be guided in reflecting on the place they come from and investigating the emotional landscape that such reflection evokes, all the while using skills from the language learning process. Attendees will be invited (but not required) to join additional workshops over the next few weeks, with the potential of sharing their finished poem at a poetry reading as part of the South Bend Poetry Festival.
