In Ecuador, dance not only preserves heritage, but tells stories about the people, their customs, and their emotions, not just with historical traditions but with contemporary ones as well.
In Chicago, the Kichwa Runa Community tells stories about their Ecuadorian heritage through music and art to not only preserve their heritage, but to share it with others.
This group makes use of traditional instruments such as the zampoña, quena, charango, and rondador to rescue traditional melodies from the province of Imbabura such as "San Juanito".
