Notre Dame alumnus, Brian Olemo, has published a memoir titled, Leaders & Schemers: A Political, Intellectual and Spiritual Itinerary by Aluta Press.
From the author:
"The book traces twenty years of formation across institutions in Uganda and the African Leadership Academy in South Africa — and the four years I spent at Notre Dame that completed that journey. Among the experiences woven into that formation is the summer I spent in Tanzania studying Swahili on the SLA Fellowship — a gift from the Center for the Study of Languages and Cultures that opened a world and a language I carry with me still. That fellowship was not incidental to who I became. It is part of the story."

April 16th's event will be a serious and celebratory evening in equal measure, with a panel discussion on African leadership featuring Fr. Emmanuel Katongole, Fr. Paulinus Odozor, Ife Olagunju, Trevor Lwere, Kaza-zack Kazirukanyo, and the author. Following the discussion will be a celebration of African food, music, and a book signing from Brian Olemo himself.
