Eleven Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistants (FLTAs) have come to Notre Dame to teach their native language and culture for the 2017-18 academic year. These language and culture ambassadors are sponsored by the prestigious Fulbright Scholar Program, which has been hosted at Notre Dame since 2006. This year, the Fulbrights will instruct classes, lead language tables, and promote cultural exchange on campus. Ranging from Japan to Brazil, they come from all over the world and are eager to inspire language learners at Notre Dame.

The Fulbright Scholar Program was established in 1946 by J. William Fulbright. Fulbright annually sponsors 8000 grants to American and foreign students and professionals to pursue language instruction or research projects. In total, 370,000 “Fulbrighters” have participated in the program since commencing in their mission to promote mutual understanding and cultural exchange.
