Study Abroad Assessment

In conjunction with the SLA Grant Program, the CSLC is researching study abroad outcomes via a combination of ACTFL OPI pre-/post-testing data, preparatory and reentry coursework evaluation, structured interviews and reflective journaling protocol. Recent scholarship on language acquisition has demonstrated that study abroad language programs are extremely effective when compared to domestic programs, but only when properly constructed and implemented. Thus far SLA participants have demonstrated positive gains overall in various measures of language proficiency and cultural awareness.
