Fulfilling the Linguistics Minor
The linguistics minor comprises 15 credits and offers substantial flexibility in elective coursework to reflect the interdisciplinary nature of linguistic study and align with students' academic interests.

Areas of Emphasis
While not required, we see many of our students select an area of emphasis within linguistic subfields such as sociolinguistics, historical linguistics, language acquisition (teaching & learning), psycholinguistics, and anthropological/ethnographic linguistics. For students who already know which subfields appeal to them, we recommend starting your course planning based on the categorizations of both fundamental and elective courses, according to your anticipated area of emphasis.
