In addition to opportunities for formal language learning and practice, providing semi-structured and more casual contexts for foreign language communicative practice is a significant priority for the CSLC. One important means of accomplishing this goal is through the organization, sponsorship and hosting of foreign language discussion tables within the CSLC space.

These "roundtable" discussions are an opportunity for individual language programs to regularly bring their students (and invited guests) together in a more comfortable social context to practice oral language proficiency and build community through conversation, culturally meaningful activities and good humor. Although each language program develops its own language table cultures, most groups feature faculty and graduate students as conversation leaders and incorporate conversation themes and semi-structured activities alongside refreshments.
