Language in Motion (LiM)

Language in Motion is an exciting, community-engaged learning program in language and culture. LiM's mission is to expand, enrich, and energize language and culture teaching/learning through community partnership and collaboration. The CSLC serves as a connection hub between our ND students with language knowledge or global experience and community partners like schools, care providers, camps, and extracurricular groups whose students can benefit from a LiM storyteller. 

How It Works

The LiM program works with Notre Dame students with knowledge of a second language or culture to offer personalized presentations on language and/or culture in K-12 classrooms. The LiM program helps to:

• enrich and expand world language and culture curricula in K-12 schools, especially those in isolated, under-resourced, and/or primarily homogeneous areas.

• provide college students with opportunities to better understand and analyze their own and another language and culture and to hone their personal, professional, and presentation skills in real-world settings.

• establish and nurture active, productive, K-12 professional networks and the sharing of international resources.

• provide professional development opportunities in language and culture, including conference scholarships, immersion study, and workshops

• cultivate intellectual curiosity, confidence, openness to and respect for personal and cultural differences, and an appreciation for the value of community service among all K-16 participants. 

• develop and support a nationwide consortium.
