Let's Talk 2016: Language and Identity (day 2)

Location: McKenna Hall

The relationship between language and identity has been investigated in many disciplines such as anthropology, education, linguistics and literature. Language use reveals speaker's’ social identity, and membership. There are many theories about language and identity from traditional model (identity being static) and postmodernism model (identity is a site of struggle power).  Let’s Talk 2016 will bring the scholars from different disciplines and redefine the role of language in social identity construction.

The conference will feature keynote speakers Professor Susan D. Blum, Dept. of Anthropology, University of Notre Dame and Professor Youngjoo Yi, Dept. of Teaching and Learning, The Ohio State University. More information about the conference can be found here
