Rubrics can enhance student self-assessment, self-regulation, and understanding of what is being assessed in writing, projects, and performance. However, students report that rubrics can be restrictive and can increase stress. In this workshop, participants will be introduced to rubric development, and will also explore how to co-create rubrics with students for assignments. Establishing criteria and online tools for rubric development will be presented. Tips and tricks, including online rubric generators, will be presented.
