Ines Mokdadi

Please join us this Wednesday on Zoom for an informative talk by in-resident Fulbrighter, Ines Mokdadi, entitled, "My Experience Teaching Arabic at Westville Correctional Facility during the Pandemic".

Ines Mokdadi, resident Fulbright teacher-scholar, will share with us highlights from her experience teaching Arabic to incarcerated peoples at Westville Correctional Facility. This has been one of her primary obligations during her tenure as an FLTA at Notre Dame. She will elaborate on her pedagogy and how she overcame certain obstacles in order to connect her students to the material. She will draw on textual examples during the discussion.

Join us for this informative session as we contemplate education within correctional facilities and the popularization of Arabic language-learning and related disciplines among inmates. A key part of Ines' discussion will focus on how standard pedagogies in language-teaching were affected by the pandemic, and the innovative and creative ways through which she addressed these concerns.
