In this workshop, attendees will learn the basics of HTML coding. HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) is used to show content on the page. HTML describes the structure of a Website semantically along with presentation cues, making it a mark-up language, rather than a programming language. HTML allows images and objects to be embedded and can be used to create interactive forms. In this hands-on workshop, attendees will:
- Best practices for web design (don’t use those tables!)
- Learn the difference between HTML and CSS
- Understand responsive design
- Gather tools to help with coding
- Develop a style guide for web pages
Attendees will develop a 1-page website project in Google Sites based on their goals (i.e., a 1-page design portfolio, a class webpage, or a project resource page for students). However, attendees are also free to create in Canvas, Conductor, WordPress, or another HTML-based tool
Resources will be provided.
All are welcome!
