We are excited to announce that in July 2019, the CSLC will move to the 3rd floor of Bond Hall, where we will enjoy expanded space for our core programs and student services as well as proximity to flexible-learning classrooms designed specifically for language learning. Bond Hall has been reimagined as an integrated hub for student success organizations; it will also be outfitted with a number of new and innovative learning spaces. We are delighted to be a part of this vision and believe our new home will enable us to expand the impact of our many successful programs, including peer tutoring, language tables, study and conversation groups, and cultural events. "It was clear that the CSLC had outgrown 329 DeBartolo Hall, in view of the intense demand for our offerings and the continuing urgency to anchor language and culture at the center of a Notre Dame education, " said Dr. Brian Ó Conchubhair, CSLC Director. "We are thrilled to have gained more space for our programs and services, look forward to designing and using new classrooms calibrated for language pedagogy, and are delighted to be working in close proximity with other student learning organizations."
The CSLC team has seen significant growth over the past several years as a result of the Center's efforts to meet the changing needs of students and faculty. "Thanks to new partnerships, growing numbers of Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistants each academic year, and the addition of new services to our English for Academic Purposes program, our team has expanded substantially over a short period of time," said CSLC Assistant Director Maggie Vosters. "We are looking forward to the expanded workspace our new location will provide."
The CSLC's new neighbors in Bond Hall will be the Graduate School, the Institute for Latino Studies, and the Flatley Center for Undergraduate Scholarly Engagement (CUSE), as well as colleagues involved in student advising, digital learning, some tutoring programs, and the Engineering-Science Scholars program for 1st year students. Remarking on the goals for the reimagined Bond Hall, Associate Provost Elliott Visconsi said, "Bond will feature a significant number of flexibly-designed classrooms to support active learning and other emerging pedagogies during the day, and tutoring or other programming during the evening. With such a rich set of student-facing offerings, we expect Bond will be a dynamic center of activity during the day and into the evening. The building's proximity to many dorms and dining halls as well as Coleman-Morse will enable growth and enhanced impact for all of the organizations housed there."
