Biography
Former Director of the CSLC (2020-2026), Teaching Professor Emerita (Italian), Department of Romance Languages and Literatures
Alessia Blad-Miller is from Milan, Italy. She began teaching Italian at Notre Dame in 1999 and served as the CSLC's director from 2020 until her retirement in 2026. She specialized in Italian language and culture and led the graduate course on Foreign Language Teaching Methodology and Second Language Acquisition in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures. As the Italian Language Course Coordinator, she played a key role in curriculum development and instructional innovation. Alessia is remembered as being passionate about global engagement and her dedication to creating transformative opportunities that empower Notre Dame students to become culturally competent global citizens.
